HCMC – Two more trains with three cars each of HCMC’s first metro line project linking Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City arrived at the Khanh Hoi Port in the city’s District 4 this morning, December 7.

They are the eighth and ninth trains out of the 17 trains of the urban rail line to be shipped to HCMC, the local media reported.

The two trains were transported from Hitachi’s Kasado Factory in Japan on November 20. Due to bad weather, they arrived in HCMC later than expected.

They will be transported to the Long Binh Depot in Thu Duc City on December 10 and 13.

Two more trains will arrive in the city tomorrow, December 8, and be transported to the Long Binh Depot on December 15 and 17.

According to the Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC (MAUR), HCMC’s metro line No. 1 will have 17 trains, including three-car and six-car trains, all manufactured in Japan.

Each three-car train is 61.5 meters long and capable of carrying 930 passengers at a time, while six-car trains are 121.5 meters each. They can travel at a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour on elevated sections and 80 kilometers per hour on underground sections.
