HCMC – A batch of more than 2.5 million doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine donated by Germany through the Covax Facility was handed over to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology today, December 14.

The latest batch has raised the total number of Covid vaccine doses donated to Vietnam through the Covax Facility to some 45.2 million, the local media reported.

In September, Germany donated medical supplies and vaccine doses to Vietnam. German Ambassador to Vietnam Guido Hildner said Germany would continue to provide Vietnam with more doses through the Covax Facility, with a total of some 10 million doses, as the pandemic is still raging here.

As of early December, Germany had provided 144 nations and territories, including Vietnam, with over 610 million doses of AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer.

Vietnam has administered over 132 million doses of Covid vaccines nationwide.
