HCMC – Environmental experts have advised the residents of Hanoi City to limit outdoor activities as the air quality index at many monitoring stations reached unhealthy levels this morning, September 2.

If they must go outside, they should wear high-quality face masks, the experts added.

Besides, residents should regularly use physiological saline for respiratory hygiene, according to some health experts.

The monitoring systems of the Vietnam Environment Administration, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the municipal government recorded that many areas were experiencing serious air pollution levels. The air quality was mostly between the yellow and orange levels, which means it is unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Air quality monitoring apps, including Air Visual and PAM Air, also warned that many parts of the city and some neighboring provinces were experiencing poor air quality at dangerous levels, VietnamPlus news site reported.

At 8.00 a.m. today, data from the Envisoft monitoring system of the administration showed that the air quality index at three sites in the capital city reached 154-155.

Four other sites saw the index reach 151-157, according to the air monitoring results announced on the city’s web portal.

In many parts of Hanoi City and some neighboring provinces, the index of air quality stands at 184, affecting the health of people, according to Air Visual. The quality of air in the city is expected to continue worsening all day.

Pam Air reported that the AQI taken at nine monitoring stations, five in Hanoi City, two in Hung Yen Province, one in Thai Binh and one in Haiphong, exceeded 200.
