Vietnam Airlines to resume international flights from Sep 18

Must read

HCMC – Following a suspension caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will resume its international air services, starting with one-way flights from Vietnam to Japan from September 18 aimed at meeting the demand from Vietnamese passengers to travel to Japan to work and study.

Vietnam airlines will continue cooperating with the competent agencies to seriously adopt pandemic prevention and control measures, the local media reported.

A representative of the airline said flights will depart from Hanoi for Japan’s Tokyo City at 11:45 p.m. on September 18, 25 and 30, and from HCMC at 0 a.m. on September 30.

Flights carrying passengers from Japan to Vietnam will resume after the competent agencies issue an official decision. All crew members will have their health checked and be quarantined in line with the law as soon as they arrive in Vietnam. The aircraft used in these flights will be sterilized with chemicals that meet international standards.

Passengers can buy tickets for flights to Japan from September 11 via the Vietnam Airlines’ website, mobile phone app and ticket agents across the country.

The airfare, including taxes and fees, starts from VND10.19 million but may change at the time of purchase depending on the seat availability and exchange rate fluctuations.

Vietnam Airlines will soon update the schedule of the Vietnam-Japan flights. The air carrier also has plans to resume return flights from Japan to Vietnam, based on the development of the pandemic and the approval of the relevant agencies.

In addition, the airline is establishing a plan to resume flights to South Korea, China, Taiwan, Laos and Cambodia.

Since June, Vietnam Airlines has been operating several one-way flights from Hanoi and HCMC to South Korea’s Seoul and Germany’s Frankfurt. The resumption of regular international flights is a positive signal for Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam’s aviation sector as a whole as the pandemic has been brought under control in many countries.
