HCMC – The capital city of Hanoi has decided to remove all 22 Covid-19 checkpoints at its gateways, according to the city’s new instruction on the implementation of temporary measures to safely adapt to the pandemic.

Chu Ngoc Anh, chairman of the municipal government, said in an official dispatch, issued yesterday, October 20, that the Police Department would remove all of the checkpoints at the city’s gateways.

The Police Department will have to join hands with the city’s Health Department, the competent agencies and the local authorities to monitor compliance with Covid safety protocols among organizations and individuals at the city’s airport, coach stations and roads leading to the city, especially those returning from virus-hit areas. Violators of anti-Covid rules would be tackled, Anh said.

As for the city’s vaccination rollout, the municipal government prioritizes giving the second shot to people 50 and older, pregnant women, workers at industrial parks and export processing zones, delivery and logistics workers, teachers, and those working in areas at high risk of transmission such as shopping malls and supermarkets. Moreover, the city is preparing to vaccinate children 18 and younger when vaccines are made available and the Health Ministry’s relevant guidelines come out.

Regarding education, the chairman tasked the Hanoi Department of Education and Training with teaming up with the Health Department and other relevant agencies to collect feedback from parent societies in order to map out education and training plans based on the Covid transmission risk of each locality.
