Lap An Lagoon, part of Lang Co Bay, around 70 kilometers from Hue City and 30 kilometers from Danang, was recognized as the world’s most beautiful bay by WorldBay Club several years ago
Located between Hue and Danang, a cluster of attractions, including Lang Co Bay, Lap An Lagoon, Bach Ma Nature Reserve and the Lang Co Fishing Village, exists, where humanity is in harmony with nature.
Lap An Lagoon connecting with Lang Co Bay is one of the biggest brackish water lagoons in Hue, covering an area of 1,600 hectares with its water surface being 3.5 kilometers wide. Its water has a unique color—a mix of sky blue and forest green. It is home to some 11,000 people, mostly fishermen, who make their living by farming fish for food and offering tourism services.
If tourists travel to the attractions by train, they can witness a charming view of Lap An before their train passes through the Hai Van Tunnel. Tourists are recommended to travel by motorbike to fully enjoy the view, which is especially stunning at sunset. On the west side of the lagoon is a road sandwiched between a stretch of water as green as jade on one side and the majestic mountains on the other.
Moreover, exploring untapped cascades and primary forests in the Lap An Lagoon area is an unmissable experience. Tourists can also hire a boat to travel around the lagoon and enjoy fishing. During the boat trip, tourists can experience a peaceful view of the lagoon whose surface always reflects the white clouds and is dotted with local fishermen’s shacks and boats.
The lagoon is the richest source of oysters in Lang Co Bay. It also has an abundant source of seafood such as lobsters, crabs, mackerels and blood cockles, to name but a few.
Fresh seafood caught by the local fishermen is sold at competitive prices. There are also some eateries serving dishes made from fresh seafood to tourists. Nothing compares to a seafood meal by the lagoon.
