She was the third worker to die after getting the vaccine on November 23, the local media reported.

On the day, the medical center of Nong Cong District administered the second dose of Vero Cell to 400 workers of the Kim Viet Footwear Co., Ltd. After their vaccinations, 30 workers reported side effects, with five developing severe symptoms and being diagnosed with anaphylaxis.

They were later sent to the Nong Cong General Hospital before being transferred to the provincial General Hospital. However, two of them died on the morning of November 24 and one in the afternoon.

According to a leader of Nong Cong District, most of the workers reporting side effects are aged between 25 and 30 and are women. At present, nine people are being treated at the Thanh Hoa General Hospital, while some others with mild symptoms are being treated at the Nong Cong General Hospital.

Nong Cong District has suspended administering the Vero Cell vaccine, while other vaccines will be administered as planned.

The competent agencies launched an inspection into the incident.

Trinh Huu Hung, director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Health, said all the workers had their health checked before the vaccination. When the incident occurred, the best drugs and medical equipment were mobilized but the workers’ conditions worsened quickly.

The Ministry of Health has asked the Bach Mai Hospital to send a team of medical workers to Thanh Hoa to help treat the victims of the incident. In addition, healthcare centers in the province were also asked to provide support.

Nong Cong District has supported the family of each of the deceased with VND50 million. Kim Viet Footwear Co., Ltd has also provided each of them with VND100 million and considered supporting the children of the victims until they are 18.
