Assistance needed for education after super typhoon Yagi

The Saigon Times Foundation-Pham Phu Thu Scholarship Program expects to raise over VND1 billion on September 13 and 14.

Typhoon Yagi hit northern Vietnam last week, leaving over 330 people dead and missing, more than 200,000 homes destroyed or flooded, and hundreds of thousands of livestock swept away.

It will take a long time to recover from the damage caused by the storm and subsequent flooding, as people have been left with nothing, even with the support of the Government and the community.

Facing the risk that thousands of students may have to drop out of school due to their families’ economic devastation caused by the disaster, the Saigon Times Foundation- Pham Phu Thu Scholarship Program is calling for generous philanthropists, businesses, entrepreneurs at home and abroad, and all sectors of society, to join hands to support affected children to continue their schooling.

The Saigon Times Foundation-Pham Phu Thu Scholarship Program and the Saigon Times Foundation (established under Decision No. 15/2002/QĐ-UB issued on February 22, 2002 by the People’s Committee of HCMC), a non-profit charitable organization, are always grateful to the benefactors from all sectors who have steadfastly supported the program and the foundation.

The foundation strongly believes that the compassion and philanthropic spirit of benefactors from both inside and outside Vietnam will continue to grow, contributing to the future generations and a better Vietnam.

Join us in philanthropy, human capital development, and the promotion of education.

The organizing committee is currently contacting local authorities to ensure scholarships are awarded to affected children as quickly as possible.
