Aviation authority calls out airlines resuming operations without approval

Must read

HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked local airlines not to resume commercial operations after April 15 until they obtain the authority’s approval.

The authority on April 13 sent an urgent notice on the operation of domestic flights from April 16 to 30 to Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways and Jetstar Pacific Airlines.

To continue strictly applying the prime minister’s Directive 16 on Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures, the authority asked these carriers not to sell air tickets for flights departing from April 16 to 30 if they have yet to be granted licenses from the authority.

Also, the airlines were told to send their requests for licenses for the resumption of services from April 16 to 30 to the authority on April 14, the local media reported.

As such, none of them have been granted licenses for the resumption of domestic flights after the social distancing order ends on April 15, according to the authority.

Despite this, a few days ago, Bamboo Airways announced that it would resume its domestic flights from April 16 and increase the daily frequency of the Hanoi-HCMC flights to seven.

A representative of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines noted that it has yet to release any announcement on flight schedules after the social distancing order ends, but on its website, air tickets for domestic flights departing after April 15 have been sold since April 7.
