HCMC – Biwase (HOSE: BWE) plans to increase its charter capital from nearly VND2.2 trillion to more than VND2.5 trillion through a share issue to existing shareholders.
The Vietnamese water and environmental services firm plans to issue more than 31.4 million new shares to existing shareholders at VND37,000 each, pending approval from the State Securities Commission of Vietnam.
Through the share issue, the firm could raise around VND1.16 trillion, which would be used to acquire a stake in Ninh Thuan Water Supply JSC, invest in the first phase of a 24-MW waste-to-energy plant, and repay maturing loans.
If the issue is successful, the company’s charter capital is expected to increase from VND2.2 trillion to over VND2.5 trillion.
Closing the trading session today, April 16, BWE lost 1.26% day-on-day to VND43,100 per share, with 613,200 shares changing hands.
On the southern bourse, the VN-Index rose by 19.18 points, or 1.07%, against yesterday’s session, to 1,819.83, with 213 decliners, twice the number of gainers at 105.
Total trading volume exceeded one billion shares, with a value of VND27.9 trillion, up 5.3% in volume but down 1.2% in value from the previous session. Block transactions accounted for 181.66 million shares worth VND5.5 trillion.
The VN30 basket closed up 17.6 points, with 11 gainers and 18 decliners. Among them, VIC rose 6.9% to its ceiling price of VND189,300. It was followed by VHM, up 4.5%, and VPL, up 2.5%. Combined, the three Vingroup-related stocks contributed nearly 28 points to the benchmark index.
On the downside, GVR was the biggest drag as it dropped 2.4%, while losses in the other decliners were limited to around 1% or less.
The HNX-Index added 3.77 points, or 1.49%, to 256.49, with 58 gainers and 70 decliners. Total trading volume reached 67.5 million shares worth a total of VND1.27 trillion.
