Vietnam and Canada are committed to strengthening trade and economic cooperation amidst global challenges. A trade delegation from Canada wrapped up a three-day visit to Vietnam last week. The mission, the largest of its type in bilateral relations, signaled Canada’s growing ambitions within the Indo-Pacific region to unlock the untapped potential of economic ties with Vietnam. Led by Mary Ng, the Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development, the trade delegation comprised over 300 individuals, including representatives from 160 businesses. The delegation focused on four key sectors: agriculture, clean technology, information technology, and life sciences. The participating Canadian companies view Vietnam as a promising market for expansion and investment in these areas. “We are all here because we see potential opportunities in Vietnam. There are real synergies between our two countries,” said Minister Ng. Setting the stage Canada’s recent trade mission to Vietnam forms a crucial part of its broader Indo-Pacific Strategy, which includes initiatives like the Vietnam-Canada business connection program.
