Buon Ma Thuot begins social distancing from today

Must read

HCMC – Buon Ma Thuot City in the Central Highlands province of Daklak is practicing citywide social distancing for 14 days, starting from today, August 3, after two more locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases were discovered in the city last night.

The city, consisting of 13 wards and eight communes with more than 500,000 people, instructed households, hamlets and communes to keep a physical distance from others.

Factories, production and business facilities, supermarkets and groceries are not subject to the order, but must maintain a safe physical distance and ensure regular sterilization, VnExpress news site reported.

The local government told residents to stay at home and go out for essential purposes only, such as buying food or medicines, while urging them to wear face masks in public and keep a safe physical distance of at least two meters while interacting with others.

Aside from this, under the order, travel firms in the city should suspend operations until August 16.

Religious, cultural and sports events and entertainment activities have also been postponed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

On August 2, Buon Ma Thuot City locked down some sections of four streets, including Hoang Dieu, Ama Khe, Nguyen Van Cu and the National Highway 14, until further notice.

Daklak Province told the provincial Department of Transport to ask bus operators to reduce the number of buses to/from Buon Ma Thuot by 50% and cap the seating of their buses at 50% or below.

Until now, the province has reported three locally-transmitted cases of Covid-19, with the first Covid-19 case, the 448th patient, discovered on July 29. Two other cases, tagged as the 601st and 602nd in Vietnam, were confirmed positive for the virus last night.
