Can Don Hydropower to pay 16.5% cash dividend for 2024

HCMC – Can Don Hydropower JSC (HOSE: SJD) will finalize the list of shareholders entitled to receive the 2024 cash dividend on September 24, with payment starting on October 24.

The company will pay a dividend of 16.5%, or VND1,650 for each share. With nearly 69 million outstanding shares, the payment will total some VND113.8 billion. Song Da Corporation, the largest shareholder with a nearly 51% stake in SJD, is expected to receive over VND58 billion from this round of dividend payments.

In the first half of 2025, Can Don Hydropower generated 151 million kWh of electricity, up nearly 6% year-on-year. Its revenue rose 4.57% to nearly VND153.7 billion, while after-tax profit surged 16.97% to over VND48 billion.

For 2025, the company plans to maintain a 16% dividend rate.

On the stock market, SJD shares advanced 1.92% today, September 9, closing at VND15,950, with nearly 481,000 shares traded.

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index gained 12.79 points, or 0.79%, to 1,637.32 points, with 168 advancers and 130 decliners.

Trading volume totaled over 1.12 billion shares worth VND31.29 trillion, down more than 41% in both volume and value compared to the previous session. Block deals contributed more than 117 million shares worth VND3.13 trillion.

Large-cap stocks helped lift the market, with SSI jumping 4.5% to VND42,000, VPB up 3.9% to VND32,400, and VIC climbing 3.4% to VND129,200. Other notable gainers included SHB, HDB, VJC, and MWG, up between 2% and 2.6%.

Mid- and small-cap stocks also attracted attention, with C47 and VNE hitting the ceiling prices. VIX surged 6% to VND35,500, with more than 38.4 million shares traded, making it one of the most actively traded stocks.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index rebounded strongly at the close. It gained 3.25 points, or 1.20%, to 274.82 points, with 81 gainers and 73 decliners. Trading volume exceeded 94.7 million shares worth VND2.12 trillion, while block deals contributed 1.88 million shares worth VND68 billion.
