HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport has asked neighboring Tien Giang Province for feedback on a proposal to launch a sea ferry service connecting the city’s outlying district of Can Gio and the province’s Go Cong Dong District.
The proposed ferry route is 12 kilometers long, running from Long Hoa Commune in Can Gio District, HCMC, to Vam Lang Town in Go Cong Dong District, Tien Giang.
Each ferry trip is expected to last around 30 minutes, with the daily schedule starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
The ferries operating on the route will have a minimum load capacity of 100 tons, accommodating 100 passengers or more, 50 motorcycles, and 10 cars with four to 29 seats.
Currently, it takes around three hours and 40 minutes to travel from My Tho to Can Gio by road, and two hours and 30 minutes from Go Cong to Can Gio. With the proposed waterway route, the travel time is anticipated to be shortened by around 40-50 minutes, said the HCMC Department of Transport.
