HCMC – Nguyen Van Hieu, 49, has been picked by the Politburo as deputy head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, after he has served as secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for one year and eight months.
The personnel reassignment decision was presented to Hieu by Le Minh Hung, head of the Central Organization Commission, on the afternoon of January 17 in Can Tho.
The new deputy head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission holds a Master’s degree in educational management, a Bachelor’s degree in law, and a Bachelor’s degree in public administration.
In January 2021, Hieu served as secretary of the Thu Duc City Party Committee for the 2020–2025 term. In June 2022, he was elected deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee for the same term. He became secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee in May 2023.
On the same day, the Politburo reassigned Do Thanh Binh, secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, as secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020–2025 term.
Do Thanh Binh, a native of Ca Mau Province, holds a Master’s degree in economics. He has held several key positions in Kien Giang Province, including secretary of the Vinh Thuan District Party Committee, head of the Provincial Organization Commission, vice chairman, and chairman of the province’s People’s Committee.
In October 2020, he was elected secretary of Kien Giang Province’s Party Committee. He is currently a member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021–2026 term.
Nguyen Tien Hai, member of the Party Central Committee and secretary of the Ca Mau Province Party Committee, was chosen as secretary of the Kien Giang Party Committee.
Hai, 60, is from Tan Thanh Commune, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province. His professional qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in law and a Master’s degree in public administration.
Since 2009, he has held various positions, including vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and chairman of the provincial People’s Council of Ca Mau for the 2021–2026 term.
