HCMC – The Ministry of Health today, August 30, took delivery of 250,800 doses of the AstraZeneca and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines donated by the Czech Republic.
The shipment arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on August 27, the local media reported.
Czech Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Lukas Musil said the vaccine donation proves the special long-standing relationship between the two countries.
Last year, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic contributed a lot to the fight against the pandemic in the country.
The Czech Republic will prioritize Covid vaccines for Vietnam and be willing to support Vietnam in the anti-virus fight, Lukas added.
The Czech Republic will also provide Vietnam with medical equipment.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong said the pandemic had been affecting many countries, including Vietnam. The country has been struggling to gain greater access to Covid-19 vaccines but supplies are running short worldwide.
Vietnam highly appreciated the Czech Government and people for donating 250,800 vaccine doses to Vietnam. This support is extremely meaningful as the two countries are entering the 71st year of their bilateral relations, the deputy minister noted.
