Daily Covid cases fall to over 3,700

HCMC – The Ministry of Health reported 3,717 new daily Covid cases today, May 1, with all of them locally infected, down by nearly 1,400 cases against the day earlier.

Hanoi as the biggest coronavirus hotspot recorded 795 cases, followed by Nghe An with 210 and Yen Bai with 200.

HCMC, which was the country’s largest Covid hotbed at the height of the fourth wave of infections last year, had a mere 42 cases today.

Vietnam’s Covid tally has exceeded 10.65 million since the beginning of the outbreak, including over 9.26 million recoveries.

Today alone, 2,111 Covid patients were announced to have recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, one Covid fatality was confirmed in Ben Tre Province. In addition, there are currently 475 critically ill cases of Covid.

The country has administered more than 214.9 million doses of Covid vaccines nationwide so far, including over 1.5 million doses for children 5 to 11.

According to the Ministry of Health, the nation’s 63 cities and provinces have vaccinated children aged between five and 11 against Covid.
