HCMC – After a local student of the Dak R’lap ethnic boarding school in Dak Nong Province was found infected with Covid-19 through rapid antigen testing, the local health authority discovered 51 more infections linked to the case.

Over the past three days, the provincial health authority coordinated with the competent forces to track down and test close contacts of the student, who is a local resident of Quang Tin Commune in Dak R’lap District.

The test results of 51 people came back positive. All of them are local residents of Quang Tin Commune.

The district government then decided to impose the stay-at-home order under the prime minister’s Directive 16 in the communes of Quang Tin and Dak Ru. It also sent competent forces to monitor 33 checkpoints in affected areas as well as banned vehicles which travel on National Highway 14 from stopping or parking when entering Quang Tin Commune.

The local health authority said this is the largest infection cluster in this Central Highlands province as of now. The number of new cases has risen sharply, while close contacts of the student have been found in the three communes of Nhan Dao, Nghia Thang, Hung Binh and Kien Duc Town.

Given this situation, the provincial chairman has agreed to apply a social distancing mandate in the entire Dak R’lap District starting from 12 p.m. today, September 7.
