HCMC – All of gas stations in the central coast city of Danang have finalized the posting of emergency hotline numbers to receive public reports on illegal fuel trading activities.
This move, directed by the city’s Department of Industry and Trade and executed by the Danang Market Surveillance Agency, aims to ensure a stable supply and prevent market manipulation amidst global energy supply disruptions.
Two dedicated phone numbers are now publicly displayed at every operating station, active 24/7 to handle complaints regarding price gouging, unauthorized closures, or restricted sales.
According to Pham Ngoc Son, the agency’s head, the hotlines will specifically target violations such as “out of stock” hoaxes, selling above listed prices or arbitrarily cutting business hours without approval. While the city’s fuel supply remains stable, authorities have also issued a stern warning against residents purchasing fuel in cans or barrels for hoarding, citing severe fire and explosion risks.
Any station wishing to adjust its operating hours or temporarily cease sales must now obtain prior written consent from the Danang Department of Industry and Trade to avoid speculative practices.
