HCMC – The Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) has begun large-scale blending of E10 RON95-III biofuel starting April 25 at its K130 terminal in the northern province of Quang Ninh, as part of a plan to roll out E10 gasoline across its network in the coming days.

The move follows Government directives and marks a key step toward commercial distribution of E10 fuel by the end of April.

According to Petrolimex, it has completed preparations on infrastructure and supply at eight major blending hubs nationwide, spanning Quang Ninh Province, Nghe An Province, Danang City, Khanh Hoa Province, HCMC and Can Tho City. With a combined capacity exceeding five million cubic meters, the system can meet demand across its retail network while also supporting other fuel distributors. The rollout builds on a pilot program conducted in HCMC and Danang since August 2025.

The biggest challenge now, according to the company, is operational pressure, as the group must convert its entire network of 2,831 retail outlets within a short timeframe. In Hanoi, storage capacity plans have been approved at Duc Giang terminal, while Do Xa depot is expected to begin receiving E10 supply via pipeline on April 29. Retail outlets currently selling RON95-III gasoline will switch fully to E10 biofuel, with tank and pump conversions scheduled between April 30 and May 10.

On the market side, E10 gasoline is gaining a competitive edge thanks to a preferential special consumption tax rate of around 7%, helping reduce costs for both consumers and businesses. In addition to E10 RON95-III, Petrolimex plans to introduce higher-grade fuels such as E10 RON95-V and is studying fuels that meet Euro VI standards.
