HCMC – In line with the National Assembly’s resolution on piloting a free trade zone, Danang City is finalizing necessary paperwork for government approval, including the choosing of locations for establishing functional areas within the free trade zone.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Danang has proposed four locations for the development of these functional areas:

Logistics and Production Area: A  536-hectare location is situated to the west of the southern bypass road of Hai Van Tunnel and extends to the end of Truong Dinh Village in Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District.

Production Area: The proposed location covers 538 hectares in the expanded High-Tech Zone in Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District.

Commercial and Service Area: The location, designated as a free trade zone, covers 132 hectares in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District.

Land Reclamation Area: The proposed area involves land reclamation in Danang Bay, covering between 250 and 1,000 hectares. This area has not yet been outlined in the construction planning.

The final approval of the specific location for the free trade zone will be determined by the central Government.

Tran Chi Cuong, vice chairman of the Danang City People’s Committee, noted that the city must submit its proposal for the establishment of the free trade zone, including policies outlining the locations of functional subdivisions, to the prime minister for consideration and approval before the resolution comes into effect on January 1, 2025.
