HCMC – The central city of Danang reopened beaches, indoor and outdoor sports activities starting today, July 10, under some special rules to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.

Beach showers and other services at beaches and in park areas remain suspended, except for parking sites and locker rooms.

People can access beaches in the morning from 4:30 to 8:00 and in the afternoon from 16:30 to 19:00. They must not gather on the beach for entertainment, sports, eating and drinking while staying at least one meter apart and wearing masks before and after sea bathing.

Outdoor and indoor sports activities must follow Covid-19 preventive measures during their operations. Meanwhile, sports activities in enclosed spaces such as gyms, yoga and billiards continue to remain shut.

Commenting on the Covid-19 situation in the city, Ton That Thanh, director of the Danang Center for Disease Control, said that the city had conducted Covid-19 tests for all examinees and proctors joining the national high school exam, with their results all coming back as negative.

Thanh suggested the city focus on testing those groups at high risk of local transmission such as medical workers; patients; those working at wholesale markets, the Tho Quang fishing port, and in industrial zones; employees on duty at Covid-19 checkpoints and long-haul truckers.

Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal government, asked local authorities to continue to send people returning from virus-hit areas into quarantine. Districts citywide are told to resume the operations of local quarantine centers and prepare to receive and quarantine those coming from virus-hit regions.

Since June 18, Danang reported 92 Covid-19 cases by community transmission. During the current fourth coronavirus wave which began on April 27, the city recorded 250 domestic infections.
