HCMC – The Crown Prince of Denmark, Frederik, and his spouse, accompanied by over 30 leading companies in green projects, are visiting Vietnam from October 31 to November 11 at the invitation of Vietnam’s Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.

Lina Hansen, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, said that the purpose of the visit is to boost green future and sustainable development.

According to her, the trip would strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark.

Luong Thanh Nghi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark, said that several big Danish firms were sounding out opportunities to expand their business in Vietnam.

The visit marks the 50th year of the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Denmark, now with a focus on sustainable development and green transformation.

During the visit, Crown Prince Frederik and the delegation will meet with the leaders of Vietnam and participate in activities to promote trade and investment.

Wind power and energy efficiency will be highlighted alongside the activities to celebrate the 50th year.

Nghi shared that the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Denmark posted positive signs of development.

Despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, bilateral trade in 2021 reached US$842.37 million, up 18% over 2020. This year through September, the number had hit US$554.17 million, of which exports from Vietnam to Denmark soared 18% year-over-year.

In the first nine months of this year, Denmark ranked third among the top countries investing in Vietnam with US$1.32 billion in pledged capital, following the investment of Danish giants such as Lego and Pandora.

This visit is the Crown Prince’s third one following his last two trips in 2009 and 2011.
