Disciplinary measures proposed against former HCMC chairman

Must read

HCMC – The Party Central Committee’s (PCC’s) Inspection Commission has proposed the Politburo discipline Nguyen Thanh Phong, former chairman of the HCMC government.

Phong, former deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee and former secretary of the HCMC government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee, is now vice chairman of the PCC’s Economic Commission, the local media reported.

The Inspection Commission also reprimanded the standing boards of the Party Committees of the Department of Construction and the HCMC government’s office in the 2015-2020 tenure. Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the municipal government and former head of the municipal government’s office, was also reprimanded.

The decisions were made after the Inspection Commission found signs of violations of the HCMC government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee in the 2016-2021 tenure.

According to the commission, the HCMC government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee violated working rules, showed a lack of responsibility and slack leadership and poor supervision. It let the municipal government and many organizations and individuals violate the Party’s rules and the State’s regulations on managing State assets, and many Party members and officials face criminal charges.

These violations have resulted in serious consequences and the wastefulness of the State’s assets and budget, sparked public concern, and damaged the prestige of the local authorities.

The Inspection Commission asked the Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee to direct, consider and impose sanctions on other individuals and organizations related to these above violations.
