Domestic gold prices rebound

HCMC – Gold prices in Vietnam surged on Friday, with SJC gold bars climbing to VND142.4 million per tael, according to major gold traders, tracking a sharp rise in global bullion prices.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), DOJI and Phu Quy Jewelry quoted SJC gold bars at VND137.9 million per tael for buying and VND142.4 million per tael for selling as of 9:10 a.m., June 12, up VND4.5 million and VND4 million against yesterday’s session, respectively.

Gold ring prices also advanced. Phu Quy listed plain gold rings at VND137.9 million-VND142.4 million per tael, while Bao Tin Minh Chau quoted similar products at VND137.8 million-VND142.8 million per tael.

The spread between buying and selling prices narrowed to VND4.5 million per tael from VND5 million a day earlier.

Global spot gold traded at around US$4,194 per ounce, up about US$130 from the previous day.
