CAN THO – Dong Thap Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has signed a cooperation agreement with Rynan Technologies Vietnam JSC to proceed with digital transformation in agriculture in the Mekong Delta province.
The signing ceremony took place during a conference announcing Dong Thap’s digital transformation project on October 10.
The cooperation aims to enhance the collaboration in digital transformation and the application of technology in agriculture, contributing to agricultural development in Dong Thap.
Besides, the cooperation is expected to help the province build connectivity, moving toward expanding business cooperation with organizations and enterprises outside the province.
Dong Thap and Rynan Technologies Vietnam will cooperate in carrying out two main contents: digital transformation in agriculture and cooperation in research and application of technology in agriculture.
To realize digital transformation in agriculture, the two parties will work together to develop a plan and determine the scope and norms suitable for the digital data platform of the province’s agriculture via solutions, technology platforms and smart devices of Rynan.
A trial run will take place this year before the province moves toward the completion of an ecosystem of digital agriculture platforms in 2023 or sooner.
For the second cooperation content, the parties will find solutions to enhance the application of advanced mechanization in agriculture, transfer of advanced technology for building a product chain and create more added value for the agro-products of Dong Thap.
Before the agriculture digital transformation project, Dong Thap had adopted several digital systems to create a foundation for gradually integrating with the current digital data platform of agriculture.
Specifically, the province has applied technology and software in the management of planting, livestock raising, irrigation, forestry, economic cooperation and the one commune one product program, among others.
According to Pham Thien Nghia, chairman of the Dong Thap Peoples’ Committee, digital transformation is considered a stimulus for socio-economic development, expected to bring positive changes.
In the short term, the province will focus on digital transformation in the administrative, economic and social sectors, in which the three main sub-sectors are agriculture, education and healthcare.
