Eximbank announces dividend payment plan

HCMC – The Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank (Eximbank), whose EIB shares are traded on the southern exchange, said that it will pay a cash dividend for 2023 at 3%.

For the first time in 10 years, Eximbank has announced plans to pay a cash dividend. The last cash dividend payment (at 4%) by the bank took place in 2014.

As per the plan, Eximbank will pay VND300 per share, sourced from the undistributed profits until 2023. With over 1.74 billion outstanding shares, the lender will allocate VND522 billion for dividend payment.

Eximbank has also announced its plan to issue over 121.86 million shares to pay a share dividend of 7% for 2023, which means shareholders will receive seven more shares for every 100 shares held.

On the southern exchange, EIB rose by 1.27% day-on-day to VND19,950 per share at the close of the trading session today, May 31. It took the lead by liquidity in the market with more than 20 million shares transacted.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange shed 4.6 points, or 0.36% against the previous session, closing at 1,261.72 points, with 198 winners and 222 losers.

More than 771 million shares worth VND18.7 trillion were transacted on the market, plummeting by 26.57% in volume and 27.51% in value compared to yesterday’s session. Block deal transactions contributed nearly VND3.2 trillion to the overall value.

Amid the sluggish trading market, textile stocks stole the spotlight.

ADS hit the ceiling price of VND14,600 per share, its highest level since the beginning of the year. It saw over 4.42 million shares traded, over four times the average trading volume of the past 10 sessions.

Other textile stocks performed well, such as GIL with a rise of 5.8% and TCM with an increase of 5.4%.

Within the banking sector, VCB and BID deducted nearly three points from the VN-Index, with respective declines of 1.58% and 1.26%.

On the northern market, the HNX-Index inched down 0.92 point, or 0.38%, day-on-day at 243.09 points. The total volume reached over 74.85 million shares, valued at VND1.35 trillion.
