HCMC – A high-speed ferry service linking downtown HCMC and Con Dao resumed operations on June 1 after a nearly year-long suspension, with fares ranging from VND965,000 to more than VND1.3 million.
The operator said the service is being resumed with a larger high-speed vessel measuring more than 52 meters in length, over 10 meters in width and nearly 3.4 meters in height.
The ferry can accommodate up to 527 passengers and features a range of seating and sleeping options, including VIP and standard classes.
The ferry operates between Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi Port in downtown HCMC and Con Dao Special Zone.
Under the current schedule, departures from HCMC to Con Dao are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6:30 a.m., while return trips from Con Dao operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing at noon.
Under favorable weather conditions, the journey takes slightly more than five hours. The operator said the larger vessel’s design helps reduce seasickness by minimizing vibration and motion during the voyage.
Weekday fares, from Monday through Thursday, range from VND965,000 to VND1.125 million for seats and from VND975,000 to VND1.205 million for sleeping berths.
The high-speed ferry route was first launched in March 2025 but was later suspended to allow for maintenance and vessel upgrades.
In addition to this service, another high-speed ferry route connecting HCMC and Con Dao has been operating from Hiep Phuoc Port in the city’s former Nha Be District.
