HCMC – The HCMC Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA) has asked firms to intensify anti-coronavirus measures to ensure the safety of workers, due to the recent major spike in daily Covid-19 cases.

Due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant becoming dominant in HCMC, it is necessary to tighten anti-pandemic measures at firms active in industrial and export processing zones to prevent any production disruptions, according to HEPZA.

Firms should map out plans to conduct Covid tests on their workers to promptly detect cases and contain the spread of the virus, quickly report Covid cases to HEPZA and handle them in line with the Health Ministry’s guidelines.

Besides, firms should ask their employees to report their positive Covid test results to them and healthcare stations and ask the infected workers to stay home to prevent the Covid spread, according to HEPZA.

The authority also encouraged firms to regularly assess the Covid transmission risk at their factories and plants to proactively respond to the Covid spread.

Aside from asking their employees to strictly follow Covid safety protocols at work, firms must review the administration of vaccine boosters among their workers.

The Ministry of Health reported 86,990 new Covid infections yesterday, February 27, with over 1,960 of them detected in HCMC.
