HCMC – A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and nearly 100 passengers on board, successfully landed at Long Thanh International Airport this morning, December 19.
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) today held a ceremony to inaugurate key facilities and mark the launch of the first flight at Long Thanh International Airport.
The event was held in conjunction with 79 connected sites nationwide, where construction was launched, projects inaugurated, or technical traffic opened for 234 works and projects to mark the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
At 8:20 a.m., a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 carrying Party and State leaders and representatives of ministries and agencies landed on Runway 1, officially inaugurating operations at Long Thanh International Airport.

This was followed by two narrow body aircraft operated by Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways, which departed Tan Son Nhat and landed sequentially at Long Thanh international airports, carrying flight crews and technical staff, reported the local media.
ACV said the official launch of the first passenger flight at Long Thanh International Airport, a nationally important project built to ICAO Category 4F standards, symbolizes Vietnam’s strong aspiration to rise in a new era of development.
Long Thanh International Airport is envisioned as a “smart green airport” meeting international five star standards, featuring breakthrough technologies developed under ACV’s own capabilities.
Construction of the passenger terminal and connecting transport infrastructure is in its final stages, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026.
Earlier, on December 15, a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 successfully carried out a technical flight to Long Thanh Airport. The flight carried only the flight crew and technical staff, with no passengers or cargo on board.
