HCMC – The East Sea will experience 8-10 storms and tropical depressions from now until February next year, with three to five of them forecast to strike Vietnam.
Between October and November, the central and southern regions will be hit by heavy downpours, Nguyen Van Huong, head of the Climate Forecast Department under the national weather center, said today, August 18.
Besides, the southern region will experience unseasonal rains in early 2023, said the representative of the national weather center, warning of weather hazards likely to hit the country such as thunderstorms, tornadoes and hails.
This year, cold air masses are forecast to form earlier than the previous years, while temperatures in the winter in many northern provinces might drop to new lows, the local media reported.
Cold air masses for the rest of 2022 will cause high waves in the waters off Quang Ninh to Ca Mau provinces.
Flash floods triggered by storms are forecast to hit the northern and north-central regions from September onward.
Landslides, strong winds and high tides might threaten central Vietnam and the southwestern region for the rest of the year.
Heavy rains and flooding are forecast to hit the southern region from October to December this year.
