Former deputy head of PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs detained

HCMC – Nguyen Van Yen, former deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s (PCC) Commission for Internal Affairs, has been detained for allegedly misappropriating State secret documents, according to local media reports.

The Ministry of Public Security announced this afternoon, June 25, that investigative police have initiated legal proceedings against the case of misappropriation of State secret documents that occurred in Hanoi and other provinces and cities.

Yen is charged with misappropriation of State secrets, as stipulated in Article 337 of the Penal Code. The specifics of his alleged wrongdoing have not yet been disclosed.

Following approval from the Supreme People’s Procuracy, police detained Yen and searched his residence.

On June 19, Yen was removed from all his Party posts by the Politburo and the Secretariat.

He was found to have violated Party rules and State laws concerning the protection of state secrets, asset declaration, income, marriage and family. Additionally, he breached Party regulations on Party members’ responsibilities to act as role models, leading to serious consequences and public indignation.
