HCMC – Nguyen Van Lanh has been detained for his alleged involvement in the Viet A test kit price gouging case, a day after he was removed from his posts as secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.

Two other former senior officials of Hau Giang CDC, Huynh Thi Hong Doan and Ha Tan Binh, were also arrested today, May 11, for the same charges.

The law enforcement agencies are searching the workplaces of the three at Hau Giang CDC in Vi Thanh City, the local media reported.

On May 10, the provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Commission and the Department of Health issued decisions to strip the three of all their posts for their violations in the procurement of Covid test kits.
