Fusion Hotel Group has appointed David Roberts as its new chief operating officer (COO), bringing on board a seasoned professional with some 20 years of experience in the Asian hospitality sector at a time when the hotel group is expanding its presence in the region.

The Canadian COO joins the Vietnam-based team at Fusion from his previous base in Thailand, where he spent nine years with Onyx Hospitality Group, with six years in the corporate office as vice president, overseeing hotel operations and growth in the Southeast Asian market.

Prior to that, he served the group on property as a cluster general manager. In his most recent role in Thailand, Roberts oversaw global development for Dusit International, focusing on growth in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe.

Fusion manages 23 hotels and resorts in Vietnam and Thailand, three of which have been launched in the past 12 months: the 242-key Fusion Resort & Villas Danang, 238-key Fusion Suites Hanoi, and HIIVE Binh Duong.
