HCMC – Gelex Electricity JSC (HOSE: GEE) said it would pay a cash dividend of 30% for the first tranche for this year, with the record date set for August 21 and payment for September 10.
Shareholders will get VND3,000 for every share held. With 366 million outstanding shares, the company would spend nearly VND1.1 trillion for the dividend payment.
According to its latest earnings reports, second-quarter consolidated revenue rose 22.6% from a year earlier to VND6.51 trillion, while pre-tax profit increased 7% to VND722 billion.
In the first half, revenue jumped 30.6% to VND11.79 trillion, and pre-tax profit climbed 61.8% to VND1.33 trillion.
The firm’s total assets had reached VND14.36 trillion at the end of June 2025, up 11.3% from the start of the year, with cash and equivalents up 36.5% to VND944 billion.
Wrapping up the trading session today, August 14, GEE extended its losing streak to the third straight session with a 2.81% decrease, at VND124,400.
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index added 29.09 points, or 1.81%, to close at 1,640.69 on Thursday, with 156 gainers and 170 decliners. Trading volume reached 1.82 billion shares worth VND52.75 trillion, down 6.67% in volume and 5.66% in value over the previous session. Block deals accounted for 59.5 million shares valued at nearly VND1.9 trillion.
The VN30-Index climbed over 40.07 points, or 2.28%, to 1,793.78 points, with 22 gainers and eight decliners. Losses in GVR, MSN, FPT, BCM, DGC, GAS, PLX, and SAB were all within 1%. Most gainers in the group rose more than 1%, with over half posting increases of 3-4%.
Banking stocks had a strong performance today, with several hitting their ceiling prices. MBB, ACB, HDB, and VPB all reached their upper limits. Other major players also saw significant gains, including SHB (up 5.4%), SSB and VCB (both up 4.3%), and TPB (up 3.4%). Trading was robust, with high liquidity seen across the board. SHB was the most actively traded stock with nearly 119.3 million shares traded, followed by TPB (71.65 million), VPB (69.3 million), and HDB (60 million).
Securities and insurance stocks advanced, with VIX and BIC hitting the ceiling, and BVH rising 6.7%. Real estate shares rebounded, as VIC rose 1.9%, VHM added nearly 1%, and DXG, DIG, PDR, and NVL closed higher.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 5.46 points, or 1.95%, to 285.15 points, with 109 tickers rising and 76 others dipping. Trading volume on the northern exchange totaled 184.8 million shares worth a total of VND4.1 trillion.
