HCMC – “GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam”, Germany’s biggest annual cultural festival held in Vietnam, will kick off in Hanoi and HCMC after a two-year break due to the Covid pandemic.

The festival will be co-hosted by the German Business Association (GBA) and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam).

Since its rollout in Vietnam in 1992, GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam has become an annual event bringing unique German cultural and traditional experiences to Vietnamese people. The festival has also strengthened the Vietnam-Germany partnership.

This year’s version will mark a key milestone for the 30th anniversary of its presence in Vietnam.

The event will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hanoi from September 29 to October 2, and repeated at the Nikko Saigon Hotel in HCMC between October 6 and 8.

Marko Walde, chief representative of AHK Vietnam, said, “GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam 2022 will promote business and cultural exchanges between Germany and Vietnam.”

Speaking at a press briefing to launch the festival in Hanoi City on August 24, Torben Minko, vice chairman of GBA, said, “In Vietnam, ‘Oktoberfest’ is also known as a German beer fest, but the GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam is more than just a normal beer fest. We have continuously been working on improving its setting to create an authentic atmosphere in both Hanoi and HCMC.”
