HCMC – Domestic gold and silver prices rose on the morning of May 7, with SJC-branded gold bars increasing by VND1.5 million per tael from the close on May 6, while the U.S. dollar at commercial banks remained unchanged against the Vietnamese dong.
Phu Quy quoted SJC-branded gold bars at VND164.5 million per tael for buying and VND167.5 million per tael for selling, up VND1.5 million from the close on May 6. Compared with the same time 24 hours earlier, prices were unchanged.
Gold rings at Phu Quy also edged up by VND1 million, with buying prices rising to VND164 million per tael and selling prices to VND167 million per tael.
The spread between buying and selling prices for both SJC gold bars and gold rings remained at VND3 million per tael.
Globally, gold traded at around US$4,695 per ounce, up US$72 from the previous session.
In the domestic silver market, Phu Quy listed silver bars at VND2.955 million per tael for buying and VND3.046 million per tael for selling at 8:45 a.m., up 0.93% from the previous close.
Ancarat quoted silver bars at VND2.946 million per tael for buying and VND3.037 million per tael for selling, up VND59,000 per tael on the buying side and VND61,000 per tael on the selling side from May 6.
DOJI raised silver bar prices by VND75,000 per tael for buying and VND77,000 per tael for selling, listing them at VND2.955 million and VND3.046 million per tael, respectively.
Globally, silver traded at US$78.03 per ounce at 8:50 a.m. on May 7, up 1.02% from the previous session.
On the same morning, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) kept the central exchange rate unchanged at VND25,113 per U.S. dollar.
At commercial banks, the U.S. dollar was steady. Vietcombank quoted the greenback at VND26,098-26,128 for buying and VND26,368 for selling, unchanged from the previous close. ACB listed the dollar at VND26,110-26,140 for buying and VND26,368 for selling, while VietinBank quoted it at VND26,118 for buying and VND26,368 for selling.
