HCMC – The Government has agreed to appoint contractors for the purchase of 10 million doses of Cuban-made Covid-19 vaccine Abdala, in line with Article 26 of the Bidding Law.

The resolution issued by the Government today, September 20, over the purchase of the vaccine doses, produced by Cuba’s Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), exempts the responsibility for complaints related to the vaccine and the use of the vaccine and approves delays in delivery.

Besides, the Government demanded the 10 million doses of the Abdala vaccine be received in full despite delays, the local media reported.

The Ministry of Health was assigned to assume responsibility for the purchase of the vaccine, its quality and the progress.

On September 17, the Ministry of Health approved Cuba’s Abdala Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use. This is the eighth Covid-19 vaccine approved for use in Vietnam, after AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Hayat-Vax.

The ministry has received 50.2 million Covid vaccine doses. As of September 19, over 34 million doses of the Covid vaccine had been administered nationwide.
