HCMC – The National Assembly today, February 18, approved the appointments of Nguyen Chi Dung, minister of Planning and Investment, and Mai Van Chinh, head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, as deputy prime ministers in the 2021-2026 term.
The number of deputy prime ministers has now risen to seven, with the other five being Nguyen Hoa Binh, Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, and Bui Thanh Son.
As part of the Government restructuring, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has been merged into the Ministry of Finance, now led by Minister Nguyen Van Thang.
Nguyen Chi Dung, a 65-year-old native of Ha Tinh Province, has been a member of the Party Central Committee for three terms and has served as a member of the National Assembly for two terms.
Mai Van Chinh, a 64-year-old native of Long An Province, has been a member of the Party Central Committee for four terms. Before his appointment, he held leadership positions in Long An and later served as deputy head of the Central Organization Commission before becoming head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission.
