HCMC – Hanoi City authorities have announced the extension of operating hours for the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street and other pedestrian areas in the Old Quarter for the upcoming New Year celebrations.
The Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street will extend its operational duration by one day, covering four days from December 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
The pedestrian street around Hoan Kiem Lake will open from 7 p.m. on December 29, 2023, and will continue until midnight on January 1. Pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter will also be operational from 7 p.m. to midnight from December 29 to January 1.
These pedestrian streets have become highly popular tourist attractions, especially on weekends and holidays. The area around Hoan Kiem Lake typically attracts 5,000 to 7,000 visitors during the day and sees a surge to 15,000 to 20,000 visitors in the evenings on weekends.
During peak holiday periods, it can draw up to 40,000 daily visitors.
The city’s decision aims to enhance the festive atmosphere and accommodate the expected increase in visitors during the New Year celebrations.
