HCMC – The HCMC government has allowed private hospitals to collect certain fees from Covid-19 patients who require their examination and treatment services.

Under the current regulations, Covid-19 treatment costs will be covered by the State but based on the prescribed levels. The costs for the treatment of other diseases in the Covid treatment process will be paid in line with the regulations on health insurance and medical checkup and treatment.

The costs for services which have yet to be added to the above costs will also be sourced from the State budget but they must not exceed the levels now applicable to public hospitals.

The funding for these costs will be sourced from the anti-Covid fund allocated for the HCMC Department of Health.

As for the gap between the amount paid by the State and the real costs at private hospitals treating Covid-19 cases, these hospitals can negotiate with patients to fill the gap.

If patients voluntarily pay all of the checkup and treatment fees and do not need to use the State budget, private hospitals can collect the fees from the patients.

Private hospitals must follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the relevant ministries and agencies.

The municipal government assigned the Department of Health to coordinate with the relevant agencies to pay the Covid-19 treatment costs at private hospitals and work with the Department of Finance or the municipal government to address any arising issues.
