HCMC approves 87 projects worth VND39 trillion

HCMC – The HCMC People’s Council approved in principle 87 state-funded projects worth a combined VND39 trillion at yesterday’s session on the implementation of the National Assembly’s Resolution 98 on special mechanisms and policies for the city.

The projects involve a variety of fields, including traffic infrastructure, drainage systems, schools and hospitals, procurement of medical equipment, and renovation of cemeteries.

Some key projects are a Beltway No. 2 section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue, with a budget of VND9.3 trillion, and procurement of equipment for three hospitals, with a total investment of VND4.5 trillion.

Regarding the education sector, several schools will receive funding for new construction and upgrade, such as Trung Vuong, Vo Truong Toan, Hung Vuong and Binh Tri Dong B high schools.

For the healthcare sector, the city will carry out some equipment procurement and hospital construction projects, such as the Healthcare Center in District 3, blocks A and B of Trung Vuong Hospital, the Blood Bank project, and the upgrade of three blocks at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.

The HCMC People’s Council also approved five projects under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) format in the period from 2023 to 2030.

The five projects comprise the expansion of National Highway 13 (from Binh Trieu Bridge to the border with neighboring Binh Duong Province), National Highway 1 (from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to the border with neighboring Long An Province), National Highway 22 (from An Suong Intersection to Beltway No. 3), North-South axis road (from Nguyen Van Linh Parkway to the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway), and the construction of the Binh Tien Bridge.
