HCMC – Authorities have installed a water-drop–shaped monument at Ly Thai To Park No. 1 as part of a symbolic project honoring the city’s collective resilience and shared loss during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Construction units completed the installation of the monument on the morning of February 2
The structure is made of mirror-finished stainless steel, standing about six meters high with a circumference of 13 meters. Its reflective surface mirrors the surrounding landscape
The investor said the water-drop image symbolizes sorrow and loss, while the heart inside represents compassion, love and human solidarity. The reflective material conveys the message that every individual is part of a shared memory, and no one stands alone in the face of collective hardship
According to the project’s investor, the interior of the water-drop structure is hollow and specially designed so that when natural light—such as sunlight or moonlight—passes through it, viewers can see a heart shape formed inside the monument
In addition to the monument, other components of Ly Thai To Park No. 1 are entering the final construction phase. Remaining works include a fountain lake, a lighting system with thousands of decorative lights, green spaces, grassy hills, lawns, observation pavilions and outdoor activity areas
Three old villas within the park have been preserved and renovated into community facilities, including a community house, a public library, exhibition spaces and other public amenities
Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is positioned as a symbolic project honoring the collective efforts of HCMC residents in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic. Authorities are accelerating construction to complete the remaining items
The park is scheduled to be inaugurated on February 12 (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month) and opened to the public, serving residents and visitors during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday
