HCMC – The HCMC Department of Tourism on September 19 arranged two special tours for medical workers to visit Cu Chi and Can Gio districts, making them the first two tours after the city had suspended travel services for around four months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two districts had earlier announced that they had brought the pandemic under control, the local media reported.

The day trips took in outdoor destinations which are separated from residential areas.

Specifically, the HCMC Department of Tourism cooperated with the HCMC High Command and the Cu Chi District government to organize the tour to Cu Chi for 108 medical workers in the communes, wards and towns of HCMC.

The department also joined hands with the Can Gio District and Saigontourist Group to hold the tour for 119 medical workers coming from other parts of the country to assist the fight against the pandemic and from some hospitals in HCMC.

The medical workers participating in these two tours received two vaccine shots and tested negative for Covid before departure.

Nguyen Ho Hai, deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, said the city wanted to express its gratitude to the frontline workers who had supported the city’s fight against the disease.

According to Vo Anh Tai, deputy general director of Saigontourist Group, the tour to Can Gio was organized thanks to the efforts of the city’s tourism authority. The group will work with the relevant agencies to assess the tour and learn from experience to ensure safety for tourists and tour guides in the coming tours.
