HCMC – HCMC will complete Ring Road No. 2 and Metro Line No. 1 this year to prepare for the construction of other economically vital projects, HCMC Chairman Phan Van Mai said on January 18.

Chairing a conference to review the city’s security and traffic safety in 2021, HCMC Chairman Mai said that the city will prioritize the investment in and construction of traffic infrastructure in the 2022-2025 period.

After getting the Ring Road No. 2 project done, the city will start work on the Ring Road No. 3 project and complete it during the period, while concurrently deploying the Ring Road No. 4 project.

In addition, the city will speed up the construction of the first metro line in 2022 to put it into operation on a trial basis in early 2023. The metro line No. 2 project will get off the ground soon.

The city is planning to widen gateways to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the Cat Lai Port to ease traffic jams, the local media reported.

On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a virtual conference with the leaders of provinces and cities and ministries to urge local authorities to proceed with key infrastructure projects.

The prime minister asked HCMC to quickly speed up the preparation for the Ring Roads No. 3 and 4 projects, while urging Hanoi City to deploy the Ring Road No. 4 project as these projects play an important role in boosting socioeconomic growth in the cities and the southeast region.
