HCMC tightens control over road transport to prevent Covid-19

Must read

HCMC – After suspending all flights from Danang for 14 days starting July 26, the HCMC government has also tightened control over road transport to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading.

The Departments of Transport, Public Security and Health have been asked to work together to closely monitor bus stations for coaches travelling to the city from localities that have recently reported community-transmitted Covid-19 cases including Danang City and Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.

HCMC vice chairman Le Thanh Liem on July 28 signed an urgent dispatch asking all districts and departments to be watchful and take drastic Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures. The preventive measures will be flexibly applied to each sector based on the Covid-19 situation.

The city government asked for early Covid-19 detection, quarantine and treatment. “Every citizen must be a Covid-19 fighter and protect himself/herself and his/her family,” the city government said in the urgent announcement.

Health authorities were asked to be prepared in case there are new Covid-19 infections reported, conduct quick and large-scale tests, especially on people who develop Covid-19-related symptoms, identify people who have visited Danang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai and equip quarantine centers.

The Cu Chi Field Hospital, the Can Gio Covid-19 Treatment Hospital and the HCMC Children’s Hospital must always be ready to receive Covid-19 patients.

Citizens have also been encouraged to wash their hands regularly, refrain from large gatherings and wear face masks in public places.
