HCMC –  HCMC is set to carry out a comprehensive test run of Metro Line No. 1, which connects Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park, starting August 31, according to the HCMC Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR).

This upcoming trial run marks the first instance of the entire 19.7-km-long metro line being operational. The passenger count on board will be limited to fewer than 20.

To date, HCMC’s inaugural metro line has undergone three trial runs, all carried out on elevated sections.

Recently, the HCMC Department of Transport has made a fare proposal for the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien urban railway, with ticket prices varying from VND12,000 to VND18,000 per journey.

In detail, the fare structure encompasses VND12,000 for the first five kilometers while the rides exceeding 15 kilometers will incur VND18,000. Moreover, commuters can opt for a day pass priced at VND40,000 or a three-day pass available for VND90,000.

The MAUR has already unveiled its plan and pivotal tasks associated with the Metro Line 1 project. The objective is to conclude construction by the end of 2023 and initiate commercial operations by 2024.

At present, Metro Line No.1 is 96% complete.
