HCMC – The HCMC Management Center of Public Transport has decided to reduce around 51,000 public bus trips from January 12 to 31 as a large number of commuters, mainly students and workers, had returned to their hometowns before the long Tet holiday.

Le Hoan, deputy director of the center, said the number of commuters would fall by half in the city during the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), which begins on January 22.

The center is planning to suspend the bus lines which are mainly used by students, namely 50 and 52, from January 15 to 29 (the 24th of the 12th lunar month to the 8th of the first lunar month).

Other bus routes will operate until 12 p.m. on January 21. Bus Line No. 20 will run until 5 p.m. that day to serve passengers at the Binh Khanh ferry terminal.

With an interval of 20-30 minutes between bus trips, the bus lines in HCMC will serve commuters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on January 21.

Bus lines to and from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, namely 103, 109, 152, and 72-1, will serve passengers until 12 p.m. on January 21, and operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the next day.

Bus lines 103 and 152 will operate from January 23 to 25 (from the 2nd to the 4th day of the New Year) with a frequency of 50 trips per day and 72 trips per day, respectively.
