HCMC – A tourism business matching forum is set to kick off in HCMC on August 8, making it the first-of-its-kind to be organized in the city.

The two-day forum is aimed at connecting local travel firms and promoting their cooperation to develop the tourism sector after Covid-19, the local media reported.

This is the first time the city will organize such a large-scale tourism networking forum, Nguyen Thi Khanh, chairwoman of the HCMC Tourism Association (HTA), told a conference held by HTA on July 5.

The forum, with the participation of representatives from HTA, the tourism agencies of many countries, local and international tour operators and provincial and municipal governments, is set to feature over 100 booths introducing tourism services and products nationwide.

From now until the end of 2022, HTA will be collaborating with the Vietnam Culinary Conservation, Research and Development Center to popularize Vietnamese cuisine, a strength of tourism, through several festivals, according to Lai Minh Duy, vice chairman of HTA.

These festivals, including the Culinary Festival- Quintessence of Vietnamese rice, the Vegetarian Cuisine Festival, the Bread Festival and Cuisine Week, plus various tourism activities to be launched in HCMC, are expected to boost tourism in the city.
