HCMC – The government of HCMC in July urged the Ministry of Health to reinstate health declarations for those traveling to the city amid global monkeypox outbreaks.

Vietnam has yet to detect a case of monkeypox, according to the World Health Organization. However, the health sector believes it is essential to take preventative measures since the disease has a high possibility of spreading in Asia.

If the request is approved, the city border gates would mandate health declarations to discover and quarantine suspected monkeypox cases.

Those entering HCMC would have to answer three questions in the health declaration form regarding contacts, body temperatures and symptoms, if any.

The Department of Health of HCMC would monitor body temperature and symptoms, including an acute blistering rash, of air or sea passengers to filter suspected cases.

Passengers with epidemiological and clinical conditions would be guided to the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases or general hospitals equipped with quarantined zones for further treatment.
